Woodland Twilight

Woodland: W 45 cm H: 44.55 cm

A boldly coloured depiction of woodland. Geometric marks represent the vertical and horizontal shapes of tree trunks and branches in natural woodland. The artist found inspiration in Lady Park Wood in Gloucestershire; observing the distinctive shape of the Plane , shadows, and reflections formed in the unmanaged wood. Tracing steps through undergrowth trodden down by humans and woodland creatures she noticed how dappled sunlight filtered through trees and cast graffiti shapes on the ground.

The design incorporates depictions of light passing through natural forms to create a new and changing pattern, creating structure and form from twigs, grasses, bird footprints and the trails left by snails.

The Twilight colourway artfully renders the stain of fruit on the ground after it has fallen from a tree in a striking combination of rich shades including mulberry, mauve and pink, ideal for darker schemes and modern decor.

With strong shapes this bold textile design would suit mid-century furniture and upholstery projects. Offered in a wide choice of complimentary shades from the periwinkle blue, ink and violet of Twilight to softer shades of moss, white and khaki which would work well with neutral colour schemes.
